ForFarmers is pleased to be part of the Pig Industry Scholarship Scheme, in association with AHDB Pork and Harper Adams University. ForFarmers will be attending the Harper Adams Scholarship Fair on the 27th of October.

The scholarship gives one Harper Adams student studying Agriculture and/or food production the opportunity to undertake a placement year within the pig team at ForFarmers.

ForFarmers have taken on two students in the past three years giving them exposure to the pig and animal nutrition industry. The placement year allows scholars to gain a range of experience in all areas of the company including; production, sales, marketing and logistics, whilst being mentored by industry experts.

Lauren Turner, ForFarmers’ first scholarship student says,

“During my placement year from Harper Adams University I was able to develop my understanding of the pig industry working within the pig, poultry and speciality division of the business. I had the opportunity to work alongside a team of people who are experts in their fields, travelling to the head office in Lochem, the Netherlands, as well as to farms across North West Europe. ForFarmers continued to support my education in my final year and then offered me a full time job once I had graduated. I would encourage anyone to apply for this placement year, working for Europe’s largest total feed company offers unrivalled opportunities”.

The scholarship allows individuals to gain experience in a dynamic and developing sector.

The scholarship is open to both degree and foundation degree students at Harper Adams University.

All applications are to be handed in to the Development Trust at Harper Adams by 9am on the 7th of November. The successful candidates will be interviewed at Bury Mill soon after.
