A message from ForFarmers UK, Chief Operating Officer Steven Read

17-3-2020

ForFarmers is taking the spread of Coronavirus in the UK extremely seriously. Our number one priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our employees and customers, whilst maintaining continuity of feed supply to livestock.

We are following Government and NHS/WHO guidelines and adapting protocol as and when these change. For your reassurance we have a continuity planning team already in place with daily meetings to ensure robust mitigation plans are in place to secure continuity of supply.

If, in a worst case there is a closure of a ForFarmers mill, we have a contingency plan in place to utilise our national network of other feed manufacturing and logistics facilities. Additionally, ForFarmers is directly engaged with the UK feed industry’s trade association Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC) who have set up a COVID-19 issue management team.

AIC is in regular contact with Government departments and regulators (in particular DEFRA and the Food Standards Agency) who are aware of the importance of ensuring continuity of supplies of feed to customers, to maintain animal health, welfare and food production. At the current time there are no additional measures relating to the animal feed sector we need to implement but as and when such requirements develop we will act accordingly to minimise the impact of the virus.

To help prevent the spreading of Coronavirus we have suspended all on farm visits of Account Managers and specialists until further notice. However, your local Account Manager is fully contactable and will be working from home. If you are a customer that requires a silage analysis, please contact your local Account Manager who will arrange for a sample bag and relevant pre-paid envelope to be posted direct to your farm.

Our fleet of drivers are fully aware of the Government health guidelines and will continue to deliver to farm being mindful of guidelines and hygiene policies. However, can we ask that if you, or one of your close family have contracted or are displaying the symptoms of Coronavirus, you notify us prior to a feed delivery so appropriate measures can be taken to risk assess the situation and work with you to ensure feed is supplied safely.

If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact your local Account Manager, Customer Service team or call 0330 678 0982.

Best wishes,

Steven Read
