Dairy farmers from across the South West are invited to attend a specialist open day next month which aims to provide guests with the advice and practical support needed to help them maximise their maize yields.
The Maize Growers Open Day is hosted by animal feed company, ForFarmers, and will enable local farmers to identify which hybrid maize varieties are best suited to their farm location, soil type and circumstances.
In order to gauge how well different maize varieties perform in local conditions, guests will have the opportunity to examine plots of hybrid maize varieties from KWS, Limagrain and Pioneer. Technical experts will also be on hand to walk farmers around the maize plots and answer any queries that farmers have regarding the performance of each maize variety, as well as provide practical advice on agronomy techniques to improve yields.
The meeting is free to attend, but any farmers wishing to take part should register their attendance with Louise Woolacott (telephone: 07803 286852, email: louise.woolacott@forfarmers.eu) or Clive Edmunds (telephone: 07341 883157, email: clive.edmunds@forfarmers.eu)
