Young Animal Feed Advisor Emma Slater comments: “We know that many producers still have no clear plan around how to manage the removal next year. Our Nutricare programme helps us work with producers by taking a structured approach to the zinc challenge and other challenges they may be facing on their specific site.
“ForFarmers operates in multiple countries, all at varying stages in their zinc journey, so, in collaboration with our international Nutritional Innovation Centre, we’ll be drawing on experiences from producers in other countries. It puts us in a great position because we’ll be using real world examples from other producers who have already been through this transition.”
Over and above this ForFarmers also wanted to share advice available to all producers so the nutritional business will launch a series of practical tips and advice across their social media channels and on our website for those not on social media, including tips and information on:
- Ensuring good hygiene and creating the right environment to support good health
- Colostrum management
- Healthy litter birth weights
- Matching nutrient intake to the type of animal to support gut health
- Encouraging consistent feed intake
- In feed and water acidification
“And of course, these factors aren’t just important when it comes to transitioning to zinc free, but also generally for improving piglet vitality and overall herd performance.”
The series launched recently with a video to set the scene for producers about what’s to come, watch the video here.
