The Scottish Egg Quality Awards which are run in partnership by leading feed manufacturer ForFarmers and the Scottish Rural University College (SRUC) has been cancelled for 2020, due to the on-going Low Path Avian Influenza outbreaks and the COVID-19 situation.
Iain Campbell, ForFarmers Key Account Manager comments: “This year would have been the 32nd year of the awards, we are really disappointed that they won’t go ahead this year, but our first priority is the welfare of our farming community, so we know it’s the right decision for everyone.”
However, one of the elements of the annual celebration is the ‘Young Person of the Year Award’ which the organisers have decided to continue; “Despite not being able to get together in person, or visit farms to collect the eggs, there is one award which we can still deliver- the ‘Young Person of the Year’”
The award is open to anyone who is employed in a Scottish registered egg production or marketing business with a role in egg quality and is under the age of 30.
Entries will reviewed by a panel of representatives from across the egg industry including Sir John Campbell, John Retson and Robert Chapman.
“We’re looking for the future stars of the industry, those young people who are already making a significant contribution in shaping and building the Scottish egg industry.”
Along with the trophy, the worthy winner will also receive a free hotel stay and £250 of vouchers. The closing date will be Thursday 30th April 2020. If you would like to apply, or nominate, please contact Iain Campbell using the form below:
