Turkey Finisher

Appropriate nutrition to optimise carcass conformation and deliver the finish expected for a premium product.

Key requirements:

• Appropriate nutrition to optimise carcass conformation and deliver the finish expected for a premium product.

The finisher period is often the least valued life stage, but continuing to focus on nutrition here will make a huge difference to the quality of the final meat product.

With a phased approach to nutrition throughout the earlier stages of the bird’s lives, the finishing period should be the least demanding of the growing phases. Attention to detail is critical to delivering a product which delivers on taste, texture, tenderness and overall presentation for your customers.

Calorie to protein ratio

As the bird’s reach the finishing phase and their daily growth rate begins to slow, a higher percentage of the weight gain will be muscle, this can be supported by continuing to optimise the calorie to protein ratio.

Our Traditional Turkey Range is formulated with a calorie to protein ratio appropriate to the age of the bird. This carefully specified balance of energy and protein promotes the necessary levels of intramuscular and subcutaneous fat, which ensures maximum flavour and succulence of the finished bird.

Careful consideration of dietary ingredients helps ensure that the traditional maturation process delivers a full flavoured bird without the risk of unacceptable taints to the more sensitive palate. Similarly, careful selection of energy sources ensures that fat deposition under the skin presents as a creamy white finish, supporting presentation.

Topweight 1 WDL Pellets

The turkey finisher diets are typically introduced at 12 weeks of age for birds destined to be finished at up to 20 weeks of age, or as part of a phased feeding programme for birds finished beyond 20 weeks of age.

The turkey finisher diets are designed to support growth through the finishing period, where lean growth is predominantly for breast meat and where the correct balance of carbohydrate and fat is required to provide acceptable carcass finish.

Supplementary feed enzymes help ensure optimal utilisation of the nutrients provided and help prevent any anti-nutritional factors interfering with the natural digestive processes.

The diet is free from any medication and can be fed up until slaughter.

Topweight 2 WDL Pellets

This turkey finisher diet can be introduced from 12 weeks of age for birds destined to be finished at over 20 weeks of age, or as the latter part of a phased feeding programme. This diet is designed to support growth through the finishing period, where lean growth is predominantly for breast meat and where the correct balance of carbohydrate and fat is required to provide acceptable carcass finish.

The Topweight 2 WDL diet is free from any medication and can be fed up until slaughter.
